Secondary Chapel
Nov 4, 2009 | Pastor Stan Sniezek, New
Life Alliance Church
After an unavoidable break
in Secondary chapel services, students seemed glad to be
back in the gym and into the regular swing of things again.
As the service began, the Students and Teacher of the
Quarter were announced. (See the Accolades page for
winners.) Long lists of student names receiving recognition
for Distinguished Honors and Honors placement were read, and
the worship team began with Rescue and Heart of Worship, led
by senior Jennifer Woods. The praise team left the platform
and a momentary awkward emptiness made students look to find
the speaker. A sinister laugh broke the silence as Pastor
Stan Sneizek from New Life Alliance Church portrayed the
taunting, hissing voice of Satan. "Saints... I will not
quit! Your soul is mine... you cannot stop me! Your flesh is
weak, sinner! Sinner, join me. You don't belong here, in
this school. No, you CAN'T defeat me? Yeah, you and what
army?"
Pastor Sneizek proceeded to
march into the room wearing an army camo hat and stepping
lively to an army chant.
"Do we have any Soldiers of the Cross here?" he barked in a
very militant tone. "I'm looking for someone that believes
in God and honor and country who will be strong in the Lord
and mighty in His power. There is no DMZ here! Either you
are the enemy or you are my brother. There is no gray zone!"
He read the lyrics to the
hymn Onward, Christian Soldiers and instructed the
'soldiers' to grab their 'weapons' (Bibles) and turn to
Ephesians 6. It was a nice refresher from Spiritual Emphasis
Week to hear these verses put to a new and powerful light.
"You cannot fight without your weapon! Lock and load with
this:
1. BE STRONG
"The word of God - THIS is your weapon against all evil
schemes! Circle it - memorize it - LIVE IT! don't be
strong in your bank account or in your appearance or in
you Wii game... be strong in the Lord because that's the
only thing that's gonna stand before Satan's attacks. If
you're a trooper in the Lord's army, you can expect a
full onslaught of attack against you. It will look like
depression, suicidal tendencies and low self esteem.
Soldier, if you feel engaged by the enemy,
congratulations! The enemy WANTS TO TAKE YOU OUT! If you
are just hanging on the sidelines, the enemy wins! If
you just show up for battle, the enemy wins! Don't let
him fool you, you've got to...
2. BE COVERED
"Good soldiers come prepared - they adapt and overcome.
Get dressed! Join the squad! Get ready, 'cause the enemy
is going to fire shots. So go ahead - call in the
special forces and keep covered!
3. BE AWARE "One
thing is for sure... you had better know your enemy. He
knows YOU! Ya know, the fight is out THERE! If you're
fighting your teachers or your parents, you're fighting
the wrong battle! KNOW YOUR ENEMY! Take aim, put him in
your cross-hairs and make total destruction your
objective. Satan, take note: your days are over! We will
ot be distracted, discouraged or dissuaded. Our mind,
soul and body are off limits to you. Your victory party
had been cancelled by the Soldiers of the Cross, because
He that is in us is greater than he that is in the
world!"
"Rise up, troops!" The
student body rose to their feet. "He's coming! I have
prompted his retaliation. Now it's time to...
4. ATTACK "You
are on the front lines now, so PRAY! Pray you don't get
sidetracked. Pray hard! Are you ready? or are you
waiting for the crisis to happen before you react? Don't
be foolish! I got a question for you. Is this a
battleground or is this a playground? Teachers, are
these troops being prepared for the battle? There is no
safe zone with Lucifer. He wants you to think he's not a
threat to you. Open your eyes! He's a terrorist and
wants you DEAD! So get off the playground and get on the
battlefield!"
Pastor Sniezek concluded
the service barking one final command and challenge. "On
your feet! Have we got any Soldiers of the Cross here? Gimme
a 'Yes, Sir'! " The student chimed in heartily. "Know this -
the task ahead of you is never s great as the power behind
you. God bless you all!"
God
bless you, too, Pastor Sniezek!
