Week Long
Middle/High School Class
Competitions: |
|

Middle and High School Students will participate in this
activity.
-
Seven large
jars will be placed in one central location (Middle/High School
Office). Each jar will be labeled with a grade.
-
Students may
put money into them all week long. Pennies count for positive
points; silver change and dollars count as negative points.
-
The class
with the most points at the end of the week is declared the
winner. Results will be posted at the end of the week.
-
Spirit points will be awarded as follows:
1,000 for first place; 600 for second place; and 350 for third
place.
|
|

High
School and Middle School will play separate “Gotcha”
games.
-
Homerooms must select TWO students per homeroom to
play the Gotcha Game. Homeroom teachers must provide
that student’s name to Student Council.
-
Student Council will place each student’s name on an
index card, which will be placed in a container with
all players’ names.
-
Each participating student will select a card,
making sure that he or she has not drawn the name of
someone in the same grade.
-
Participating students will try to “tag” the person
noted on his or her index card; if successful, he or
she will announce, “Gotcha!”
-
When a student is tagged, he or she must give up his
or her index card to the tagger, and then is out of
the game. The participating student will then try to
tag the student noted on the newly acquired index
card.
-
The game ends Friday before the Pep Rally.
-
The winner of the game is the last person remaining.
If more than one person still remains, the winner is
the student with the most index cards in his or her
possession.
Restrictions:
-
A participating student may not be tagged if he or
she is within arm’s length of at least two other
classmates.
-
Students may only be tagged between 8:00 a.m. and
3:15 p.m., and only on school property. Students
may only be tagged between classes and at lunch.
Students disrupting a class in session in order
to tag a player will cause 150 points to be deducted
from their grade’s total.
-
Students may not be chased and/or tagged in the
vicinity of any moving vehicle.
-
Bathrooms are off-limits.

Parade Day - Friday |
|
Each grade (6-12) is responsible for at least one class float
and vehicle for their Prince and Princess or King and Queen.
Float
themes must be turned in to the Secondary Office for approval
before the class can begin working on the theme.
On Parade
Day, we will have extended homeroom time to complete floats.
Students will go to
Assembly to hear the testimonies of King and Queen nominees.
Candidates will also be required to respond to questions drawn from
a list of ten questions presented beforehand by the Student Council.
Students in grades 9-12 will vote for Homecoming King and Queen.
Students will then set up for the parade. The parade will
commence at approximately 1:00pm. For safety reasons, no candy may be
thrown from the floats.
Judges will be
posted adjacent to the high school office, at the end of the
parade route, to judge each class’s theme, mascot, and banner. Each
item will be judged on creativity, originality, and overall quality.
Presentation times must be between three and five minutes.
Presentations that do not fall within the three-to-five minute time
limit will lose 150 points.
Points will be awarded as follows:
|
PARADE POINT SYSTEM |
1st Place
= 3000 points
2nd Place
= 1000 points
3rd Place
= 750 points |
Grades may also earn 500 points for timely
dismantling of floats and clean-up of work areas.
Conversely, failure to dismantle floats and clean up work
areas will result in a loss of 1,000 points. |
Grade and float
winners will be announced during the Homecoming Game.
