Summit
Christian School of the Palm Beaches, Inc., after surviving the
devastation of Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne in the fall of 2004, by
utilizing vital knowledge gained through that experience, and with
gratitude to those who assisted in our rebuilding efforts, has
formed a disaster response organization entitled |
|
 |
|
The purpose of
this organization is to assist individuals,
families and other non-profit organizations with disaster recovery. |
|
It is our intention to work
with The Red Cross, The State of Florida and various other existing
emergency relief programs and non-profits to provide assistance/aid
to individuals and families. New Hope is a
"non-profits' assistance program". This program will offer
assistance to non-profits such as churches and Christian Schools who do
not qualify for traditional hurricane relief funding through FEMA,
Red Cross, State and Federal Funding. Funds for assistance may be raised through
private donations, grants, partnering with other non-profits, relief
agencies and other means. In addition to funding, volunteers will be
recruited and matched to the qualifying non-profit organizations
needing assistance.

SCS Bible Classes and Athletic Teams
'Hustle' to Help Haitians
Summit Christian Bible teacher and Flag
Football Coach Mr. Wade Gill has been instrumental in teaching students and
athletes alike what it means to be the 'hands and feet of Christ'. "All,
right, ya'll - hustle, hustle!" barked the coach as the students hopef ul
to make the flag football team hurriedly flocked around him Thursday after
school. The kids were a tremendous help in getting all the disaster relief
donations gathered into one location from all around the campus to make the
pick up for these items a smooth transition. Early Friday morning, Mr. Gill
rallied several secondary school Bible classes to sweep the campus again
gathering donations, this time transferring over 50 cases of water and
various other donated items to the storage room for pick up later in the
day. When they were finished, Mr. Gill quieted them all and got their
attention. "You know, if this tragedy were to have happened in Jesus' time,
he would be right here where you are caring for these people. That's what it
means to be the 'hands and the feet' of Jesus. Jesus said we gave him
clothes when he was naked and a drink when he was thirsty. Well, we didn't
really clothe him, but He said that whenever we do these
things to help others, it's just like doing it for Him.
The same hands you use to operate your Ipods and
the same feet that have fancy shoes on are now being used as the hands and
feet of Jesus." |
