Help is on the Horizon...

Summit Christian School of the Palm Beaches, Inc., after surviving the devastation of Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne in the fall of 2004, by utilizing vital knowledge gained through that experience, and with gratitude to those who assisted in our rebuilding efforts, has formed a disaster response organization entitled

The purpose of this organization is to assist individuals,
families and other non-profit organizations with disaster recovery.

It is our intention to work with The Red Cross, The State of Florida and various other existing emergency relief programs and non-profits to provide assistance/aid to individuals and families. New Hope is a "non-profits' assistance program". This program will offer assistance to non-profits such as churches and Christian Schools who do not qualify for traditional hurricane relief funding through FEMA, Red Cross, State and Federal Funding. Funds for assistance may be raised through private donations, grants, partnering with other non-profits, relief agencies and other means. In addition to funding, volunteers will be recruited and matched to the qualifying non-profit organizations needing assistance.

You can offer global assistance NOW through prayer for:
  • The devastation caused by earthquakes in China

  • The families in Missouri, Oklahoma and Georgia that have been hit by severe storms and tornadoes, destroying many homes

  • The families of the boy scouts from Omaha and Iowa that were killed in recent tornadoes

  • The people of southeast Asia, as Cyclone Nargis has disrupted their infrastructure and wiped out their vital crops

Please check your hurricane supplies. If you have a battery (or generator) operated television
without digital capabilities, the information below may be useful to you.

Countdown to Digital TV
Note the date: Feb. 17, 2009

Americans with older, analog televisions, which receive signals by antenna, must switch to digital by February 17, 2009. Subscribers to cable or satellite service should ask their providers if they need special equipment for digital reception. If you don't buy a digital model, a converter box will change the digital signals back to analog. The boxes range from $50 to $75 each, but starting January 1, 2008, U.S. households may request up to two $40 coupons, to apply to the purchase of the boxes. For more information, visit their site or call 1.888.225.5322.
