Mrs. Alicia Hobson
Guidance Counselor
561.686.8081x314
Mrs. Hobson is the
secondary school guidance counselor and has a masters degree in Psychology
from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She considers it a pleasure to be a
part of the
family of Summit Christian.
Dear Parents,
There
is much information available to the parents of high school students
(especially college bound students)
in our guidance office and on this web page. I have information on
scholarships, college financing, SAT and ACT preparation, SAT and ACT
testing, college application procedures, dual enrollment, and much more.
I encourage the parents of juniors and seniors to make an
appointment with the guidance office, before the end of October, to
discuss your student’s future plans and how I may assist them in
achieving those plans.
College
Scholarship Information that is sent to our guidance department will be
accessible on this page. This information will be updated as new
scholarships arrive and other scholarships expire.
Community Service is very important to colleges and to Summit
Christian
School. It is our duty as Christians to serve one another. With that
in mind, all students at Summit Christian School are required to complete
twenty-five hours of community service, per year, from the 9th
to the 12th grade. Documentation of these hours must be
presented to the guidance office before graduation. A list of Community
Service Opportunities is available below.
Any
student who has completed a dual enrollment class needs to bring a
transcript of the grade to the guidance office. This transcript will
allow Summit to give the student high school credit for the class.
All
male students who have reached the age of eighteen must register with
the Selective Service. Information on the registration process is
available in the guidance office.
I pray that this
webpage will answer some of
the questions that you may have as the parent of a college bound
student.
Please feel free to contact the Summit
Christian Guidance Office at 561-686-8081x314. I look forward to meeting
with you.

Although GPA's become
relevant in
9th grade,
it is
wise to begin college
planning
and preparation
by the 10th grade.
Early planning
provides
a
continued incentive for high school
students to work
hard in
preparation
for their future.

Here is a list of websites that will be helpful as
you prepare for college.

As
students go about their daily activities, in the
back of their minds, they are all wondering
about college, asking questions like "What
college should I attend?" "How do I get in?" and
"How do I pay for it?". Here's why you should visit...
-
It contains the largest database of
scholarships in existence
-
Includes detailed information on over 3,000
colleges and universities
-
Conveys detailed information on hundreds of
careers.
-
Has partnered with The Princeton
Review, and can offer discounts on
ALL test prep courses - $100 discounts for
SAT and ACT tests.
-
Is much safer than any
other scholarship search site on the
internet. It doesn't sell names or email
addresses to outside companies, eliminating
the fear of spam and unscrupulous companies
obtaining confidential information about
your students.
